ALKEMIST 01

The Alkemist 01 embodies a founding philosophy and opens the first series of pieces conceived as unique works of art. It is a cue that does not need to shout to be recognised. In the hand, it conveys character; on the table, it admits no comparison.

Wood is a living material that continues to breathe even after it has been felled: it absorbs moisture when the air around it is humid, contracts when the environment dries, and changes shape with each of these exchanges. At the Alkemist atelier, every piece of wood rests in controlled conditions for more than five years before the first cut. Five years in which the piece finds its balance at its own pace, releases internal tension and settles into its final form. Only then does it reach the exact moisture content in equilibrium with its environment and ready to be worked.

This is the difference between an object that lasts and an object that is inherited. An Alkemist is born with a geometry that will remain the same a century from now: it does not warp over time, it does not lose straightness with seasonal changes, and it keeps its precision intact.

PURE CABINETMAKING

For this first cue butt, three woods have been selected, each chosen for what it contributes to the whole: Gabon ebony for the forearm and sleeve, snakewood for the grip, and roasted maple for the two shafts. These sections are joined over an internal core designed to eliminate any interference in the stroke transmission chain.

Gabon ebony (Diospyros crassiflora), with a density above 1,000 kg/m3, is one of the few woods in the world that sinks in water. It gives the cue a dense hit and exceptional acoustic transmission. These virtues have made it, for centuries, the wood of choice for piano keys, tuning forks and some of the most demanding musical instruments, including violins such as those from the Stradivari workshop. It takes between 60 and 200 years to mature, and its absolute black, needing no dye, is among the deepest found in nature.

Snakewood (Brosimum guianense), also used in the grip, joint collars and joint protectors, is one of the most exclusive woods on the planet. It is obtained from a small, slow-growing tree with a slender trunk that rarely exceeds 15 centimetres in diameter. Its density, around 1,300 kg/m3, and its hardness, close to 16,900 N, one of the highest known, place it among the most resistant woods in the world. It takes its name from its figuring, similar to the pattern of a snake’s skin, ensuring that no two pieces are identical.

The Alkemist 01 butt (451 g) is completed with two roasted maple shafts, selected for their stability against changes in temperature and humidity. The first shaft (105 g) is made from the curly version, offering high performance with a smooth, controllable response. The second (99 g) is made from the hard version, standing out for its rigidity, power and lower deflection when striking the cue ball off the central axis. Both shafts are fitted with soft Alkemist leather tips.

The result allows the player to feel a wide range of nuances and notes in the hit, all in a piece whose aesthetic presence is overwhelmingly elegant while remaining sober and restrained. This architecture is consolidated with black Juma rings, joining the sections with a consistency that guarantees maximum-performance feedback at any level of demand.

JEWELLERY

The Alkemist 01 incorporates 57 brilliant-cut white diamonds, 9 princess-cut black diamonds, 1 amethyst and 1 emerald. In the forearm, four solid silver rails plated in gold house five brilliant-cut diamonds each. A small constellation of seven additional diamonds is inlaid into the ebony sections. All diamonds are natural and have been selected one by one under the standards of the Gemological Institute of America, graded as exceptional E/F VVS2 quality. This is a combination achieved by barely three per cent of certified diamonds worldwide. The coloured stones are Extra+ quality.

The Alkemist 01 integrates 130.90 grams of 925 sterling silver and 7.53 grams of 18-carat gold, the alloy reserved for European high jewellery for its balance of purity and resistance. The gem settings have been crafted in white gold; the threads and structural points in yellow gold, chosen for its nobility and durability.

INFINITY DIAMONDS

To close the sleeve of the cue, the bumper is a distinctive element and an example of innovation. This piece has been built with a solid silver structure plated with 10 microns of gold, featuring three black diamonds on the exterior. Inside, a small chamber holds four infinity diamonds that float in slow motion around the Alkemist logo, accompanied by a brilliant-cut diamond at the center. The liquid is proprietary, formulated exclusively for this model. Its density and composition have been adjusted to ensure that the diamonds float with a smooth motion, preventing any impact between them and creating a unique hypnotic effect.

PROTECTION

The ritual is completed with three radial joint protectors, crafted from snakewood and solid silver plated in gold. Each one incorporates a brilliant-cut diamond set into the logo and two princess-cut black diamonds on the exterior. The set is enriched with additional infinity diamonds distributed asymmetrically: three in the butt protector, two in one shaft protector and one in the other. As a finishing touch, the shaft protectors feature an emerald and an amethyst, both cabochon-cut.

Technical precision is ensured by a radial joint, modified and black anodized to guarantee the best firmness and transmission. The brand is engraved on a solid silver ring plated in gold and finished with a cabochon-cut diamond.

The cue is presented in a handcrafted case made from walnut, designed exclusively for this first edition.
